Cayucos Pier & Cayucos State Beach

Cayucos State Beach is known for its fishing pier, beautiful beach and historical buildings, many of which are left over from the prospering old town and still stand as a variety of businesses such as restaurants, antique stores and specialty shops. The sandy beach offers mild weather, and watersports such as surfing, swimming, and tide pooling. Lifeguards are on duty during peak summer months. There are picnic tables, play equipment, restrooms and outside showers available.

Brown Butter Cookie Company

Featured in the New York Times, this sister-owned cookie company is nationally known for its signature sea salt confection: a melt-in-your-mouth shortbread morsel with just a touch of sea salt. They also handcraft a number of other varieties and sell them from a market at 98 North Ocean Avenue in Cayucos. Visitors are welcome to smell the butter browning, watch the dough-makers in action, and sample freshly baked cookies during regular business hours at this charming small factory and storefront.

Vista Points

All along this south route, cyclists can enjoy the many vista points and ocean views.
