Central Coast Mention in Bicycle Retailer Magazine
Highlighting towns for their cycling suitability is a relatively recent trend, but Cambria has been at the forefront, making sure visitors from near and far know that some of the best training grounds in the world lie just outside, and within, our town limits.
Cycle Central Coast and Cambria were recently mentioned in an article titled “Making a mecca: Communities unite to promote bicycle tourism.” (Read the entire article here; it’s on pages 48 and 49.) It debuted in Bicycle Retailer Magazine, a popular publication among professional cyclists as well as weekend warriors. They put the spotlight on Cycle Central Coast’s unique access to incredible cycling routes that wind past points of interest, including the beautiful, award-winning wineries that dot the hillsides.
The article also features a picture from a recent cycling trip put together in collaboration with our friends at Lezyne, a top-tier cycling accessories brand based in San Luis Obispo.
Special events like Eroica California and Amgen Tour of California have helped to put Cambria on the cycling map. Other small towns across the country are utilizing similar special events to increase interest in the areas, like Emporia, Kansas and the Dirty Kanza gravel grinder cycling event, which takes place in the beautiful, rolling Flint Hills.
Cycle Central Coast is excited to be a part of this growing trend. It’s important to us that the Central Coast is recognized as a cycling-friendly community, and that the community itself continues to grow and improve in order to provide more resources and amenities to cyclists and other travelers. Article author Val Vanderpool writes:
“When the community can see and feel the benefits increased cycling can bring, it’s more likely it will support future efforts—which is key to creating a welcoming and friendly destination.”
We couldn’t agree more, and are looking forward to hosting many cyclists in the future!
