The summer sun doesn’t just bring perfect weather to Cambria and the Central Coast—it’s alive with a slew of exciting cycling events that any level of cyclist can appreciate.
Here are some of the post-Labor Day cycling events that travel through the Central Coast.
- Arthritis Foundation Amgen California Coast Classic Bike Tour

These events provide the perfect setting for a group ride, but they also support great causes.

Arthritis Foundation Amgen California Coast Classic Bike Tour
The Amgen California Coast Classic Bike Tour, or the CCC as it is commonly known, is an adventure that takes 250 participants from San Francisco to the Pacific Palisades of Los Angeles. On the way, you will pass through Cambria and the Central Coast.
The Arthritis Foundation benefits from this cycling event, which is also sponsored by Cycle Central Coast!
This year, the event will be held from Sept. 10 to 17. Check out our summary of the California Coast Classic, including information on registration, virtual options, and more information.
SLOBC Lighthouse Century
The Lighthouse Century, held on Sept. 24 this year, is the second annual key cycling event held by the San Luis Obispo Bicycle.
This majestic ride starts in Morro Bay and gives riders the options of four routes of varying distances. The 95-mile “Century” route heads inland, up Old Creek Road, to a storied winery on the Central Coast before heading back to Highway 1 and ending at the historical Piedras Blancas Light Station. Other routes include the 75-mile Route, the “Metric Century” 65-mile Route, and the shorter 45-mile Route.
Learn more about this cycling event in our summary of the Lighthouse Century.
The Bovine Classic
Cyclists who don’t believe countryside roads along the Central Coast are as picturesque as our oceanside routes would be well-served to sign up for The Bovine Classic from Nov. 3 to 5 this year.
This Bovine Classic, which benefits San Luis Obispo-based non-profit Operation Surf, is a mixed-surface cycling event in the heart of the Pas Robles wine region, including dirt and asphalt riding. Three routes allow different levels of cyclists to ride in this event, from “The Big Bovine” 80- to 100-mile ride, to “The Gentile Bovine,” a 30- to 40-mile route that climbs more than 2,000-foot rise in elevation.
Check out how to sign up for The Bovine Classic at our summary of the cycling event.
